Welcome To The Farm!
A Step in the Right Direction’s mission is to meet the child where they are and help them develop to their potential. A Step in the Right Direction strives to to teach the child to be able to better access things by using their words but not change the essence of their personality. We use play and fun and love to develop relationships and build bonds with kiddos and families. We support local nonprofit agencies and our involvement in the community is a testimony to our commitment to improve the lives of families and children with exceptional needs. We offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of the families who choose to put their trust in us. Below are a list of available services and their description.
IN-HOME ABA SERVICES
Defining Skills and Reaching Goals
We provide direct 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the home environment. We work with parents to ensure they are confident in implementing strategies that are effective for their child. Above all, we want our clients to make meaningful gains by increasing critical skills, reducing behaviors and having fun.
SOCIAL SKILLS AND COMMUNITY BASED INSTRUCTION (CBI)
Generalizing Skills in the Community
Adult Transition Services
Preparing Everyday Skills for Independent Life
We work to have a coordinated process of preparing individuals, primarily young adults with disabilities, for independent adult life. This encompasses post-secondary education, vocational training, integrated employment, and community participation.
IN SCHOOL SUPPORT
Achieving Academic and Social Success
We work with local school districts to provide in school support for our clients. We know that being successful in the school environment often comes down to having the proper supports in place. We provide support with behavior, academics and social interaction during the childs time at school.
Self-Determination Services
Generalizing Skills in the Community
SDS allows individuals with developmental disabilities to receive an individualized budget to independently choose their own services and supports. Through this program, families can hire their own providers, rather than being limited to the traditional regional center vendor network
It is imperative that children can use the skills they have learned in their in-home programs in a functional and meaningful way. Developing skills that have an impact on long-term goals is important to us. We provide social skills groups and the ability to practice their skills in the community.
